Every one of us arrived through a birth, and every birth carries a story worth keeping, so this is a place to write down how you came into the world and how you welcomed a child into it, in your own words and at your own pace, and each story you mark for sharing appears on the site straight away, carrying your name when you choose to give it.
Ask while they are here
Most of us carry fragments of how we arrived, and our mothers and fathers hold the rest of the story, so we warmly encourage you to sit with your parents while they are alive and ask them how you came into being, letting them tell it slowly and in their own way, since a single afternoon of listening can return to you a piece of your own beginning that lives in their memory alone.
Writing your story down
How you came into the world
This is the story of your own arrival as a baby, gathered from your parents, your elders and whatever your body remembers, and anyone who feels called to meet that first imprint again in love will find a tender path in Elena Tonetti-Vladimirova’s Birth Into Being work, which guides us to re-experience our own birth held in warmth and welcome. A few questions to bring to your parents:
- Where were you born, and who was in the room to greet you?
- How did the first hours unfold, and whose arms held you first?
- How were you fed in those early days, and how were you carried and held?
- What do your parents remember feeling as you arrived?
Welcoming a child of your own
This is the story of a child you brought into the world as a mother, and fathers and birth partners who stood beside a labour are warmly welcome to write theirs here too, since everyone present in that room carries their own piece of the day. Families who kept the cord intact will find kindred company on the Lotus Birth → page, and the free book All the Way Whole → follows one family’s Lotus Birth from pregnancy through seventeen years.
A few questions to help your memory along:
- How did labour begin, and where were you when it did?
- Who was present, and how did the room feel?
- What was the first touch between you and your baby?
- What happened with the cord and the placenta?
- How did the first days at home unfold?
